Walks

BootsWalks and events in the Island's countryside
There are many walks and events in the Island's countryside... and even a few in the town as well. This page is where you will find information about these walks, most of which are free to attend.

Isle of Wight Council Rights of Way walks and trails list
The Isle of Wight Council’s Rights of Way team keep a list of trails and walks on their website, and there are a lot on there. It’s regularly updated with new ones, too, so check out this list of free walks and rides to see if there is one in the area you want to visit.

The Histree Trails
The Isle of Wight Histree Trail Project ran from 2006-2009. The project was dedicated to finding and recording the Island's special trees, collecting local stories and researching local heritage. A series of trails were created to guide walkers around groups of trees in publicly accessible places.

There are eight Histree Trails across the Island ranging in length. Each trail is accompanied by a leaflet which takes you on a tour of the finest trees. The project is now over but the Histree Trails are now on this website and available for download.
